Reposted @benkornak Here it is - my debut record Reposted @benkornak Here it is - my debut record ‘Jazz Friends’ is coming out on October 24th! It will be available on all streaming platforms and even printed on some CD’s for those interested! This is a project that truly came out of nowhere but very quickly blossomed into a portrait of the friendship and chemistry between John Hoey (@john_hoey10 ), Charles Ford, and I. Crafted 100% DIY, this project was a labor of love, and I knew the potential in us and in the record. You can see in the brief clips here, some of the pure fun and silliness that is a constant when around these guys. I was fortunate to have my good friend Andrew Harker (@andrewharkermusic ) join us on two tracks and it really brought the record together, thanks Andrew! The record came out really great, so check it out on Thursday October 24th! For anyone wondering, the album name came from a few dumb jokes on Rowan gigs I had with Charles, in reference to the 80s cartoon super friends that I watched growing up. The AMAZING art by Juliette Hunter @poptartart_ perfectly represents the energy and spirit that this project was born out of. Andy Ciardella @ciarbys mixed and mastered it, helping me bring this vision to life in a way that allowed me to stay hands on. I also had to thank the legend, my former teacher, Larry McKenna as well. A year or two before he passed, I was questioning my future as a musician and creative, and was really struggling. I had made a Facebook post about it, and Larry sent me some inspiring and loving messages, which still mean the world to me. Without him, I’d not be a jazz musician, and there would certainly not be this record. Also a quick shoutout to @stevefidyk who I studied with for a bit, and inspired me to choose that last track! He recorded my absolute favorite version of Moose The Mooche and it’s one of my favorite jazz recordings ever. Thank you all for your support and I hope you enjoy the album!
