Jazz Bridge – Neighborhood Concert Series

Jazz Bridge Board President, Kevin Johnson and vocalist Shekinah B. will co-host “Jazz in Germantown” Third Tuesday Neighborhood Concerts Series at the Settlement Music School Germantown Branch, 6128 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19144. On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, we welcome trumpeter Daud El Bakara and his group to perform. This concert will be outdoors and brought inside if inclement weather. 

Showtime: 6:00 pm to7:30 pm. There will also be a Q&A and tickets are $15 in advance (online) and $20 at the door. Students and children are FREE!

About Daud El Bakara – He tried to recall names of jazz greats that let him sit in on their shows, dug through his memory for the venues that have long since closed and ran his fingers over an imaginary trumpet, trying to mimic the fingerings he used when he played with some of the genre’s biggest names. El-Bakara spent his time playing gigs, as well as practicing and touring with different bands like The Stylistics. Dizzy Gillespie, Arthur “Art” Blakey and Donald Byrd are a few of the names El-Bakara rattled off as part of his repertoire.
